Pablo Salinas (Madrid 1871 – Rome 1946) – Portrait of a Woman, 35 x 24.5 cm (height) in frame 47 x 37 cm (height), oil on panel. Signed lower right. The Spanish painter Pablo Salinas was born in Madrid in 1871. From a young age, he began his artistic training in his hometown, later attending the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando. Starting in 1886, thanks to a scholarship, he moved to Rome, where he would establish himself within the international art scene. He died in Rome in 1946. His paintings were always rich and vibrant, often depicting scenes of life in 18th-century costumes set in luxurious settings or glimpses of contemporary life. Our portrait of a woman is rendered with the characteristic pictorial complexity that distinguished his work, evident both in the attention to detail in the figure and the flowers, and in the rendering of the background.
