JACOB DESMALTER Rue Meslée, (1803–1813) Living room set consisting of a pair of armchairs and a set of four chairs made of mahogany and light mahogany veneer. Gondola-shaped backs The armrests, with volute-shaped bases, feature padded cuffs and are topped with stylized shells resting on baluster-style consoles. Stamped “JACOB D RUE MESLEE” and star marks beneath some of the bands. Upholstery in velvet embossed with stars and lyres on the back.
