Sword of the King's Bodyguard. The tang is entirely covered with silver-plated copper filigree. The silver-plated brass mount is decorated with flowing lines; the pommel and body knot are engraved with a fleur-de-lis; the guard has a single branch; the quillon is straight; and the hilt features a bivalve shell with a raised edge. Triangular blade in the Colichemarde style, engraved on the obverse with “GARDES DU CORPS DU ROI.” Period scabbard strap in scarlet cloth. A.B.E.S.F. Signs of wear, pitting at the tip, circa 1760.
