This was an Indo-European mansion built by Nawab Hamid Ali Khan inside the fort in c.1902-1905; the 'Rang Mahal', built late 19th / early 20th centuries; and also the 'Toshakhana' or royal treasury. Rampur Fort was never intended for defensive purposes, but rather as a royal residence with administrative and cultural functions.
