1117 - [COTOLENDI, Charles] *Arliquiniana, or Witty Remarks, Amusing and Pleasant Stories*. Collected from Harlequin’s Conversations. Based on the copy. Paris: F. & P. Delaulne; M. Brunet, 1694. In-12: frontispiece–[56]–354–[12] pp. (Minor paper losses, very marginal and not affecting the illustration or text on the first few folios.) Fauve half-basane leather binding as described, spine with raised bands and gold thread, black title label (upper cover detached, spine cracked with a loss at the top, corners worn). A Dutch counterfeit, published the same year as the original and, like it, adorned with the lovely engraved frontispiece depicting a dancing Harlequin, captioned "Castigat ridendo mores." Ref. CCFr (BM Dijon). - Cf. Barbier I:275. - BGL I:267–268. - Not in STCN. Prov. Martin (handwritten note on the title page). - Fr. D. Vandaele “Med[icus]” (id. on the half-title page).
