[Netherlands, c. 1400] 16mo, 15.5 x 11 cm: vellum, Middle Dutch, written in a skilled Gothic script, traces of ruling (first leaf missing, margins of f. [1] cut away, portions cut from 2 ff. at the end of chapter 19, with loss of the initial opening chapter 20 and of several letters or words on 4 lines, very occasional foxing and light soiling, some waterstains along the outer margins). 18th-century calf, gilt-decorated spine with raised bands and a red leather title label, red edges (rubbed, a portion cut from the first blank flyleaf). From the collection of Jan Baptist van Renesse, Lord of Wulven (Leiden 1550–1636, Ommen). The Gospel is followed by a detailed three-page genealogical record in Dutch, in a different hand, concerning the nine children born of his marriage to Adriana van Twickelo (Ommen, 1560–1637), recording their births, godparents, marriages, deaths, etc. - Von Auerswald (Latin manuscript ex dono dated “Regiomonti” [Königsberg], Sept. 22, 1772, on the first blank flyleaf). - Inscription in Polish (below the ex dono, in a different hand): "Ten rękopism w czternastym wieku zrobiony, nabyłem R. 1786" (“I acquired this manuscript, produced in the fourteenth century, in 1786”). - Partially excised 18th-century printed bookplate, inscribed “Cracovia.” - Penzel (supra-libros).
