960 - TIRION, Isaak *New and Concise Pocket Atlas, consisting of a collection of some of the most general and essential maps; all in the Dutch language and compiled according to the very latest discoveries by L'Isle and others* [...]. Amsterdam: I. Tirion, 1744 [= c. 1769] Folio: [2] ff.; 111 hand-colored maps (light creases along the central fold of the world map, very few marginal spots, clear marginal waterstain on the register leaf). Contemporary half-sheep, modern cloth boards, spine with raised bands, old endpapers (corners restored, spine slightly rubbed). Excellent internal condition. Dutch hand-atlas published by the Amsterdam bookseller Isaak Tirion. Most of the maps are based on Guillaume de L'Isle. The title page, dated 1744, refers to the second edition. However, on the publisher’s advice, owners of the atlas inserted later-published maps behind the dated title page. Complete with all 114 maps (on 111 sheets), all beautifully hand-colored and in excellent condition, including, among others, a world map, continental maps, and numerous partial maps (13 of Asia, 4 of Africa, 14 of America). Ref. Koeman III Tir 5.
