[MÜNSTER, Sebastian] Brabantia V Rheni et X nova tabula. [Basel: H. Petri, 1542] Woodcut, 25.7 x 34.2 cm (beginning to split at the lower edge, lightly toned). A rare early map of the Low Countries, very likely based on Van Deventer, as the hydrography is virtually identical. Münster depicted the course of the Rhine in five maps, this one being the last, covering the lower course; it shows, among other places, the cities of Antwerp, Brussels, Roermond, Cologne, Bonn, etc. After 1542, Münster consolidated the five Rhine maps into just three; thus, this map appeared in only two editions. Excerpted from Münster’s 1542 edition of “Geographia universalis [...]”. Latin text on the reverse (no. 38). Ref. Brabantia ducatus 2. – Karrow 58/110.
