Van Keulen [18th c.], engr., 50 x 57.2 cm, hand-colored (some marginal spots). First published in the 6th part of "De Nieuwe Groote Ligtende Zee-Fakkel," containing the charts concerning navigation in East Asian waters, which for a long time required a certain degree of secrecy. In 1753, maps from the so-called “Secret Atlas of the V.O.C.” were finally published in print. An important and highly detailed map showing the Taiwan Strait (“Het naauw van Formosa”) and Fujian Province on one side, and the island of Taiwan (Formosa) on the other. Ref. Koeman IV Keu [403].
