[No Reserve] From the private collection of Peter Clayton, FCILIP, Dip, Arch, FSA, FRNS, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, UK; formed since the late 1950s. The cabasset-morion was worn by infantry and light cavalry from the mid-sixteenth century to the seventeenth century. It is characterised by its flared brim and ridged bowl. The cabasset usually features a hooked spike at the apex, the morion a tall comb; the present piece combines elements of both designs.
