Found whilst searching with a metal detector in Folkestone and Hythe, Kent, UK. Property of a Kent gentleman, a specialist medieval collector. Accompanied by a copy of the British Museum's Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) report no.KENT-4C5F3B. Thomas Hatch, was a foundry master known to have signed his wares 'TAMAS hACh', and is thought to have been operating between 1575 and 1599 (Butler and Green, 2003,72-73) at Broomfield in Kent. Although no Thomas Hatch's is known to include the phrase 'FEAR GOD', an example is known by Edmund Giles, thought to be Hatch's apprentice (Butler and Green, 2003, 69 and 73).
