DEGRELLE, Léon, “L’agonie à la Baltique.” [Original manuscript]. [San Sebastian] (October 25, 1945) 136 ff. in-4°, written on both sides, paginated [4]–245, black ink on lined paper, numerous erasures, strikings-through, and corrections in the same hand, author’s autograph initials at the end. In clear sleeves and 2 beige plastic ring binders. In good condition. An autograph manuscript with extensive cross-outs from the last of three works (along with "On Foot in the Caucasus" and "Encircled at Cherkasy") written from his hospital bed by the former head of Rex in exile (see previous lot). A note beneath the title specifies that these three collections of war memoirs were intended to form a series under the general title “Russian Front 1941–1945.” This project was never realized, but the three texts were compiled four years later in *La campagne de Russie* (Paris: Éditions du Cheval ailé, 1949). Our manuscript is therefore a first draft, as confirmed by Degrelle’s note: “This rough draft has been cleaned up. The final manuscript, entirely rewritten in my own hand, is elsewhere. It comprises exactly 447 pages, bound in paperback: only this version is intended for publication.” The text is preceded by a title page, a table of contents, and a page featuring sketches of coats of arms bearing the Cross of Burgundy. It concludes with the author’s initials and the date the manuscript was completed. The documents featured in this catalog are intended for collectors, history enthusiasts, researchers, institutions, archives, and private or public museums, and are in no way intended to promote any ideology or political party, past or present.
