GRÉVILLE, Alice Durand (née Fleury), known as Henry 5. Letter to “Monsieur” [Léon Bérardi]. Diélette (Flamanville, Manche department) and Paris 1881, 1884 1 to 3 pp. on double-leaf sheets in-8° and in-12, on paper of various shades, signed “H. Gréville” (slight creases from mailing, small marginal stain on 1 document). Letters concerning serialized publications in the newspaper “L’Indépendance belge,” which Léon Bérardi (1817–1897), a French journalist based in Brussels, edited from 1856 to 1884. The two letters from 1881 concern his novel "Le fiancé de Sylvie," whose planned serialization failed because "L'Indépendance belge" had no agreement with the Société des gens de lettres. The second project (the three letters from 1884) concerns his novel *Les ormes*, which was indeed published as a serial and then as a book by Plon that same year.
