EEKHOUD, Georges. 3 letters to "Dear Sir" [Léon Bérardi]. Antwerp, 1877–1878. 1 1/2 to 2 pages, double-leaf in-12 format, bluish laid and vellum papers with embossed monograms (some slight foxing). Interesting correspondence from Georges Eekhoud (1854–1927) at the beginning of his literary and journalistic career. These letters attest to his relationship with Léon Bérardi, editor of the Brussels liberal daily *L’Indépendance belge*, and to their shared involvement in the same literary circles. In November 1877, Eekhoud sent him a annotated list of members of the French literature section of an Antwerp literary circle. In May 1878, unable to attend a meeting, he asked Bérardi for notes so he could write a report for *Le Précurseur*, to which he was then contributing, and to supplement his own minutes. The third letter, dated December 30 with no year specified, confirms the continuity of these exchanges: upon returning from a trip to Holland, Eekhoud promises to write a report requested by Bérardi and thanks him for a financial report made available to him.
