This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by search certificate no.13524-262844. The entombment of Christ is a widely interpreted topic in the religious art of the Middle Ages: the scene always includes the presence of Mary Magdalene holding the hand of Christ and Joseph of Arimathea, who, according to the Gospel of John (XIX, 38-42), placed Jesus in his own unused tomb. TimeLine Auctions follows a rigorous vetting process to ensure the authenticity and legality of all items, reinforcing our commitment to integrity and responsible trading. Each antiquity, antique, and coin lot undergoes thorough examination by a vetting committee of at least ten external specialists, professional trade association members, scientists, and archaeologists.
