EDOUARD FRAISE (Beaune, 1880–Paris, 1945). "Figure." Bronze. Signed. Measurements: 32 cm (height); 52 cm (height with base). Édouard Fraisse was a prominent French sculptor, engraver, and medalist. He is best known for his works associated with the Art Deco movement and for his deep inspiration drawn from sports, capturing the human body in tension, movement, and balance in a stylized manner. His style evolved from classical French academicism toward the stylized and modern forms of the interwar period. He specialized in compositions featuring athletes, such as soccer players, swimmers, runners, and boxers. He created both decorative sculptures in patinated bronze, marble, and terracotta, as well as medallions.
