Central European School, c. 1910. "Female Bust." Wood and marble. Signed "Michel Munar". Measurements: 36 x 35 x 25 cm. The work depicts a bust of a historicist or devotional nature inspired by traditional Central European models such as the Madonna of Nuremberg. Due to its immense popularity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, various Central European sculptors and workshops produced refined small-scale reproductions using this striking combination of hardwood and marble. It follows the style of the Austrian sculptor Franz Zelezny (1866–1932), known especially for his detailed and impressive wood sculptures.
