ARISTIDE DE RANIERI (Carrara, 1865 – Paris, 1954). "Female Bust." Terracotta. Signed. Measurements: 30 x 34 x 15 cm. Aristide de Ranieri pursued his career in Paris, where he regularly exhibited at the Salon and was awarded an honorable mention in 1899. He worked with various materials, including bronze, marble, plaster, and terracotta, and primarily created small ornamental sculptures and decorative objects in the Art Nouveau style. His subjects are also typically Art Nouveau: nymphs and ethereal ladies, female allegories, etc., although he also depicted scenes of everyday life, child figures, and literary themes. During the height of the Art Nouveau movement, De Ranieri created numerous decorative figures, busts, and vases using materials as diverse as bronze, marble, terracotta, calamine (or régule), bisque porcelain, and plaster. His pieces often combined classical techniques with the organic, fluid aesthetic of the era. In 1899, he received an honorable mention and was named Officier d’académie in France.
