Peter Paul Rubens - Philips IV of Spain, by Paulus Pontius - 1632 Description: Portrait of Philip IV, half-length to right, wearing collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece; in an ornamental arch; below portrait, within frame: "D. Philippo IV Avstrio Hispaniarvm Indiarvmq[ue] Regi Catholico / Svpra omnes retro principes potentissimo / pio felici patri patriæ. / Hanc suæ Maiestatis effigiem a se æri incisam dedicabat / Paulus Pontius Antuerpianus / D.N.M.Q.E. / Ao. MDCXXXII" and "P. Paul Rubbens / Pinxit" and "Gillis Hendriux exc / Cum priuilegio". Third state with the larger moustache and the publishers address. Impressive large engraving made by Paulus Pontius in 1632. The painting by Rubens is now in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich, inv.no.787 (Rooses 1025).
