Rembrandt, Salomon Savery - Portrait of a young man -1654 Description: Etching, circa 1654 — Portrait of a young man wearing a feathered cap and neckerchief. This etching by Salomon Savery (1594-1678) is based on an earlier etching by Willem de Leeuw and was formerly presumed to be after Rembrandt van Rijn. The composition was derived more specifically from the 1633 painting 'The Chaste Joseph', then attributed to Rembrandt (Hofstede de Groot 431). The work was formerly in the Charles Sedelmeyer Collection, Paris (Bredius, undescribed). Dimensions: 19,50 x 14,10 cm Condition: Good impression on laid paper with full plate border and small margins all around. Moderate time staining and flattened diagonal fold at top right corner.
