Philips Sadeler, Gilles Coignet - Golden age - 1573 Description: Circular engravings from the series of Four Ages of the World after GILLES COIGNET, dated 1573 and numbered 'I' bottom middle Dimensions: 24,50 cm diameter Condition: Good impression on gothic P watermarked paper. Trimmed on plate border, outside the second image borderline. Middle right small section cut of vertically and small defect at 2 o'Clock, both restored with added paper strip. Remains of old hinges on the backside. Small collection stamp on the back side and a nice inscription in sepia ink referring to Aegidius Guiniet and Philips Galle. Literature: New Hollstein 378 . Gillis Coignet (painter/draughtsman; Flemish; 1542 - 1599) Flemish Painter: Antwerp, Italy, Amsterdam, Hamburg. Famous for his female nudes. Medium: Engraving Date: 1573
