The Christ Child lying in a cradle surrounded by the Virgin, Saint Joseph, Saint John the Baptist and angels; the young Baptist carries a cross, while an angel at right holds further Instruments of the Passion. The Latin verses below refer to the Cross awaiting the Child. Signed and published in the plate “Hieronymus Wierx fecit et excud.”, with “Cum Gratia et Privilegio. Permissu.” Engraving. Reference: Mauquoy-Hendrickx 626, no. 15 from the series The Life of the Virgin. Dimensions: 10,60 x 6,60 cm Condition: Very good impression on thin laid paper, with the full plate border.
