Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528) by Anonymous - Virgin and Child seated by the Wall - 1514 Description: An early 16th century's engraving after the Dürer engraving of 1514 showing the Virgin and Child seated next to a wall. On the tablet middle right 1514 AD. A very close copy made 1514-1550 by a so far anonymous engraver. This is the quality similar to the Wierix copies made after Dürer. However, there is a 1563 dated reverse copy known made by Johannes Wierix dated 1563 (Mauquoy-Hendrickx 1979 / Les Estampes des Wierix ... catalogue raisonné -750), so this one is most probably by another hand. The same prints is in the British Museum and dated there between 1514-1550. Dimensions: 14,40 x 9,80 cm Condition: A good silvery impression on strong thin laid paper. Literature: Meder 1932 / Dürer Katalog (36) (copy)(36) ----- Bartsch / Le Peintre graveur (VII.58.40c) ----- Dodgson 1926 / Albrecht Dürer (72) (copy)(72) ----- Schoch 2001-04 / Albrecht Dürer, das druckgraphische Werk. 3 vols I Intaglio, II Woodcuts, III Book illustrations (I.73) (copy)(I.73) Medium: Engraving Date: 1514-1550
