Albrecht Dürer - Mary going to the Temple - Early impression Description: Mariens Tempelgang. Sixth plate from 'Life of the Virgin' showing on the right a group of people with St Anne, with the child Mary leaving and climbing the stairs to the high priest; in the left foreground dealer offering fruit, doves, and lambs. Early impression slightly superior to the Latin text edition from 1511 as shown by the British Museum (1895,0122.646). Edition without (before) the Latin text. A very good impression with nearly intact borderline on a dense laid paper with an early unidentified watermark of a crowned shield with coat of arms and a miter above. Dimensions: 29.80 x 21.00 cm Condition: Outstanding early impression with nearly unbroken borderlines and small margins. A small central rust spot in the paper. Tiny closed chip along the mid-right borderline. Overall excellent and well-preserved condition.
