"Sputnik" smoking set, 1970s. Designer unknown. Patented model. Bakelite, plastic, and metal. It retains all its original parts, which are clean and in perfect condition. Measurements: 18 x 22 x 16 cm (height x width x depth). Smoker’s set consisting of an ashtray with a spring-loaded, rotating mechanism, a tobacco box, and a matching lighter. The spherical body combines a dark base with a transparent dome that reveals the accessories inside, while the angled legs and metal appendages evoke the silhouette of a satellite. It is named “Sputnik” due to its resemblance to a satellite: the spherical body and protruding metal rods resemble its antennas. The transparent dome reinforces this technological and futuristic appearance, linked to the aesthetics of the space age.
