Height-adjustable table lamp. VALENTÍ. Barcelona, 1960s. Patinated metal with embossed decoration and a cream-colored fabric shade. It features a patina consistent with its age. Measurements: 21 x 32 x 14 cm. (base) This Valentí table lamp is an interesting example of Spanish decorative design from the 1960s, in which the tradition of metalwork is combined with functional solutions. The piece stands out for its elaborate metal base, supported by small ornamental feet and composed of two cylindrical cups—designed to serve as pencil holders—decorated with embossed plant motifs. From the center emerges a slender, height-adjustable stem, topped by a truncated conical shade made of light-colored fabric. The hallmarks of ornate richness on the base and simplicity in the shade reflect the coexistence of tradition and modernity characteristic of the design of that era. The Barcelona-based firm Valentí traces its origins to a goldsmith’s workshop founded in 1798. Over the course of its history, it expanded its production to include furniture, lighting, and decorative objects, while maintaining a special focus on artisanal metalwork and the quality of its finishes. Its creations combine references to historical decorative arts with contemporary design trends.
