Pair of stools in the style of FRANCO ALBINI (1905, Robbiate – 1977, Milan). Italy, ca. 1970. Bamboo and rattan. In excellent condition. Measurements: 38 x 37 x 37 cm. Pair of stools with a circular seat featuring concentric rings and a frame formed by large curved hoops, joined by rattan ties. Their open construction and the natural tone of the fibers lend a sense of visual lightness and highlight the craftsmanship. In the tradition of furniture associated with Franco Albini, they combine geometry and natural materials—a pairing that remains relevant in 21st-century interiors due to its simplicity and versatility. Albini is one of the leading figures in the development of rationalist thought in the fields of architecture, furniture, industrial design, and museum design. He earned his degree in architecture from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1929 and later collaborated with the Ponti and Lancia studio. His collaboration with the editorial staff of the magazine *Casabella* was also fundamental to the development of his thinking and marked his definitive conversion to rationalism, for which he became a leading voice in the Italian cultural scene. In 1931, he opened his first professional studio in Milan and began working on social housing; this research continued after the war in response to the opportunities presented by reconstruction, in collaboration with Franca Helg beginning in 1952. In the 1940s, Albini expanded his collaboration with Cassina, for whom he designed a series of chairs that embodied the stylistic elements of his aesthetic; this work continued in the following years with other companies in the sector, including Poggi. Milan and Genoa represent the geographical axis where Albini left his strongest mark.
