87 - Floor lamp. Spain, 1990s.

Floor lamp. Spain, 1990s. Brown linen and wood. The fabric shows slight signs of wear. Measurements: 150 cm (height) x 20 cm (diameter). The large floor lamp now up for auction is characterized by a distinctly minimalist design and a sculptural presence in the space. Its structure consists of a slender, continuous cylindrical body that functions entirely as a diffuser, crafted from brown linen fabric. When lit, the fabric’s natural weave becomes visible, diffusing the light in a warm and uniform manner along its entire vertical length. Its most distinctive feature lies in the base, where the volume rests on discreet spherical wooden feet that slightly elevate the structure, lending it visual lightness and a subtle material hallmark. The design reflects the 1990s’ interest in formal refinement, elementary geometries, and the warmth of organic textures. Of unknown authorship and produced in Spain during the 1990s, the piece is part of the contemporary lighting design movement of the late 20th century, which favored architectural lighting fixtures capable of functioning as autonomous volumes whether turned on or off. Its condition accurately reflects its age, showing signs of use and slight traces of wear on the fabric surface that do not affect its structural integrity or aesthetic appeal.
