Table lamp. France, 1930s. Wrought iron and parchment. It shows signs of use, a patina on the metal, and tonal variations and wrinkles in the parchment. Measurements: 50 cm (height) x 21 cm (diameter). The lamp up for auction stands out for its striking sculptural presence and meticulous craftsmanship in wrought iron, reflecting an expressionist and brutalist aesthetic. Its structure consists of three vertical iron posts with a dark finish that encircle the central cylindrical body, adorned with curved, pointed appendages of organic inspiration reminiscent of thorns or plant forms. These supports extend upward to form open finials ending in opposing volutes, and descend to become three legs that elevate the entire piece. The shade is made of parchment or translucent amber-colored leather, hand-sewn to the structural rings and closed with a visible vertical seam. When lit, the shade emits a warm, textured light that dramatically outlines the silhouette of the wrought iron. Of unknown authorship and French origin, the piece is part of the decorative arts production of the 1930s, a period in which artistic ironwork explored styles of great visual impact, moving away from industrial standardization to create uniquely crafted objects. Its condition faithfully reflects its age, showing signs of use, a natural patina on the metal, and tonal variations, wrinkles, and signs of aging on the surface of the parchment, all of which lend authenticity to the piece as a whole.
