Floor lamp; Spain, 1950s Cast metal base, gilded and covered in leather. New shade with original period stitching. In very good condition. Measurements: 182 x 47 x 48 cm. A 1950s floor lamp made of gilded metal, featuring a slender central shaft and a base with curved legs. It has a cream-colored fabric shade with a truncated cone shape. Its understated and elegant design is in keeping with the mid-20th-century interior design aesthetic, in which major Parisian firms such as Maison Jansen and Maison Baguès helped spread an international appreciation for gilded metal lighting fixtures, lightweight structures, and refined forms. This decorative sensibility also found an echo in Spain, particularly in the bourgeois and representative interiors of the era, where French influence coexisted with a more restrained and functional interpretation of classical elegance. A piece representative of the decade’s decorative taste, in which formal simplicity and the richness of the metallic finish combine to create a light fixture with a timeless character.
