Attributed to ALBANO POLI (Verona, 1935–2024) for Poliarte. Table lamp. Italy, 1960s. Amber and Murano glass. In good condition, with professional restorations in some areas. Measurements: 42 x 24 x 24 cm. A unique table lamp with a distinctly sculptural character, attributed to Albano Poli for Poliarte, whose design exemplifies the formal experimentation and artisanal refinement of Italian lighting design from the 1960s. The composition is centered around a central light source, surrounded by 17 Murano glass cubes arranged in an irregular pattern, forming an architectural volume of great visual richness. The alternation between amber and clear glass, along with the air bubbles and subtle chromatic variations characteristic of handcrafted work, creates an evocative interplay of light, reflections, and transparency, casting a warm and enveloping glow. Founded by Albano Poli near Verona, Poliarte stood out for its innovative designs in the field of decorative lighting, combining the Italian glassmaking tradition with a modern aesthetic marked by a strong sculptural dimension. Albano Poli studied at the art school where the artist Casarini taught, and it was thanks to the latter that his passion for stained glass began; he first worked with the Veronese master Ballardini and, later, at just 22 years old, began working with Master Cavallini, the partner with whom he founded “Arte Vetraria Veronese” in 1957. In 1968, the two partners went their separate ways: With great foresight and a clear vision, Albano Poli founded POLIARTE, which immediately made its mark on the “Made in Italy” furniture design scene and, that same year, received its first award at the 34th Venice Biennale. In 1970, as confirmation of the success of POLIARTE lamps as true works of art—and not merely as elements of decoration and design—Albano Poli received a gold medal at the 22nd International Crafts Fair in Munich. In good condition, with professional restorations in some areas.
