Attributed to WILLY CEYSENS (Belgium, 1929–2007). Brutalist-style coffee table, c. 1970. Bronze and glass top. Measurements: 41 x 131 x 65 cm. With a striking sculptural presence, this coffee table transforms a functional piece of furniture into a work of art with a distinct character. Its two bronze supports, with irregular and sinuous profiles, evoke organic forms eroded by time. The hallmarks of the dark surface—with its rough texture and stony appearance—and the golden hues of the metal lend the piece a visual richness that shifts depending on the angle of the light. The piece embodies the spirit of Brutalism applied to furniture—a movement that, during the 1960s and 1970s, championed the expressiveness of materials, formal boldness, and the beauty of unadorned surfaces. The interplay between the sculptural solidity of the base and the lightness of the glass top creates an interesting balance between weight and transparency, matter and void. Willy Ceysens (Neerpelt, Belgium, 1929 – Achel, 2007) was a Belgian artist, sculptor, goldsmith, and jewelry designer. The son of a painter and jeweler from the Limburg region, he trained as a goldsmith, a discipline that would shape his sensitivity toward materials, textures, and the craftsmanship of metalwork. In addition to his small-scale works, he created monumental sculptures and commissioned pieces for public spaces, such as the two copper sculptures *Nieuwe Morgen*, installed in Knokke in 1972.
