Space Age Table Lamp; 1970. Acrylic. In good condition, with visible signs of age and use. Measurements: 20 x 20 x 15 cm. The design is based on the contrast between the rigorous geometry of the outer prism and the curved forms of the central element, which envelops the light source and creates an interplay of reflections, transparencies, and warm hues. Acrylic, an iconic material of the industrial experimentation of that era, allows for the exploration of light’s optical possibilities and transforms the lamp’s body itself into an active part of the lighting device. The piece is part of the Space Age aesthetic, marked by the technological race, aerospace exploration, and a fascination with new synthetic materials. During these years, designers and manufacturers turned to molded plastic, methacrylate, and reflective surfaces to develop objects that evoked a modernity linked to science fiction, electronics, and new ways of living. Lighting was one of the key areas of this experimentation, as it allowed light, transparency, and color to take on both practical and expressive functions.
