Carlo Grubacs View of Piazza San Marco Oil on canvas. 21 x 27 cm. Signed lower left: C. Grubacs. Provenance Italian art estate. Carlo Grubacs was born in Venice in 1812 from a family from Montenegro; he studied at the Acca-demia in Venice, where he often exhibited his works. Grubacs´ views, often of a small size, offer detailed and lively views of Venice; drawing inspira-tion from 19th century Venetian Vedutismo, Grubacs painted Venice in its everyday guise, de-void of grandeur, combining a skillful draughts-manship with a bright and luminous palette.
