Deutscher Künstler des 19. Jahrhunderts German School 19th century Portrait of a Young Man Black and white chalk over pencil on tinted paper. 36 x 26.5 cm. Lower left inscribed Ittenbach. Provenance Private collection Rhineland. The head of a young man is rendered in black and white chalk on brown-tinted paper. The sheet is inscribed ‘Ittenbach’ in the bottom left-hand corner. This skilfully executed drawing could be by Franz Ittenbach, but too little is known of this rhenish Nazarene’s artistic output to be able to attribute this drawing to him.
