Felix Ziem View of the Bacino di San Marco at Night Oil on canvas. 33 x 46 cm. Signed lower right: Ziem. Certificate Association Felix Ziem, Marseille, 2026. Provenance Purchased in Buenos Aires in the 1950s. - Private collection in Germany. This painting depicts a popular motif by Felix Ziem: a view of the Bacino di San Marco – at night. Characteristic of Ziem’s style is his sketchy, almost impressionistic brushwork, which prioritises atmospheric effects over topographical accuracy and places the water, as a reflective surface, at the centre of the composition. We would like to thank the Association Felix Ziem, Marseille, for confirming the authenticity of the work on the basis of a digital photograph.
