The original attribution to a follower of Jan Fyt can be explained by the close artistic relationship between the two painters: Boel was a pupil of Fyt and frequently employed similar motifs. He differs from his teacher, however, among others in his smoother application of paint. The painting is displayed in a magnificent Early Baroque frame, made in Italy around 1600.
