Six Tableaux is a series of six marble tables whose tops feature irregular contours derived from the recording and reproduction of details or fragments of works by six different contemporary artists. Each piece thus serves as a tribute to the artist whose form it borrows, transforming a two-dimensional motif into a functional three-dimensional object. With Six Tableaux, Lorenzo Bini offers a reflection on the very notion of authorship and on the mechanisms of creation in contemporary design. Devoid of conventional geometry, these tables emphasize the tactile presence of the material and the expressiveness of their free-form contours. Somewhere between functional sculpture and conceptual manifesto, they are part of the revival of Italian collectible furniture in the early 21st century.
