MONTBLANC, Germany. Meisterstück Classique 144 fountain pen, ca. 1980–1990. Black resin and gold-plated metal. Fills with a cartridge or converter. Comes with the original converter and case. In good condition, with slight signs of use. Measurements: 13.5 cm in length Provenance: Estate of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. Artistic and heritage collection originating in the legacy of Catalan painters Ramon Martí Alsina (1826–1894), a seminal figure of 19th-century Catalan Realism, and his son Ricard Martí Aguiló (1857–1935). Passed down and enriched across successive generations, the collection brings together works from the original holdings of both artists alongside acquisitions made by their descendants. Dedicated to preserving and recovering the family legacy, the descendants actively reacquired works by the painters as they entered the market, progressively expanding the collection to encompass paintings, sculptures, archaeological artifacts, and other items of artistic and historical significance. The sleek profile, black resin, and gold accents reflect the classic design of the Meisterstück series, one of Montblanc’s most iconic lines. The design retains the collection’s signature elements: a tapered black barrel, a white Montblanc emblem at the tip of the cap, a gold clip, and metal rings. The inclusion of a converter allows for filling with either cartridges or from an inkwell—a feature typical of the Classique fountain pens. The Meisterstück collection was introduced by Montblanc in 1924 and has since become one of the German brand’s most recognizable writing instrument designs.
