Set of five rings; Rome, 1st–4th centuries AD. Bronze. The largest ring features a green stone. Measurements: 2.5 cm; 1.5 cm. Provenance: Family legacy of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. Archaeological collection formed from the 1950s by successive generations of the family, through acquisitions in European galleries and auction houses. Set of five Roman rings made of bronze, featuring various decorative motifs. The development of goldsmithing in Rome was a defining feature of its culture. The wide variety of materials available to them—due to colonization and the evolution of trade—led to great refinement in the working of these materials.
