Roman bracelet, 1st–2nd centuries AD. Made of silver, with a circular structure formed by several twisted strands resembling a cord, with smooth ends and a simple hook clasp. It has a patina consistent with its age. Measurements: 8 x 8 cm. Provenance: Family legacy of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. Archaeological collection formed from the 1950s by successive generations of the family, through acquisitions in European galleries and auction houses. During the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, at the height of the Roman High Empire, bracelets were a common part of personal adornment. Twisting several metal wires together allowed for the creation of pieces with a striking decorative effect from a relatively simple structure, as seen in this example.
