FRANCE — Commemorative medal from the Agricultural Fair of the Canton of Cholet, by Jean Lagrange (1831–1908). Obverse: In a field, a sower dressed in ancient garb walks toward the right; in the background, a plowman with his team of oxen and a windmill in the distance to the left. Grenetis border. Signed: J. LAGRANGE. Reverse: “COMICE AGRICOLE DU CANTON DE CHOLET.” A composite wreath formed of ears of wheat, bunches of grapes, flowers, and the heads of farm animals (ox, horse, sheep, pig), surmounted by agricultural and commercial symbols, and resting on a plow; the center is left blank for the inscription. Material: Silver. Diameter: 40 mm. Weight: 38.8 g.
