FRANCE — The Capture of Vienna and Pressburg in 1805, by Bertrand Andrieu and André Galle (1761–1822 / 1761–1844). Obverse: “NAPOLEON EMP. AND KING.” Laureate head of Napoleon I facing right, bare neck. Signed: ANDRIEU F. Reverse: In the exergue: “CAPTURE OF VIENNA / AND PRESBURG / MDCCCV.” Napoleon is depicted nude in the guise of Hercules, his head turned to the right, the lion’s skin draped over his left shoulder, and his right hand resting on his club; at his feet, two kneeling, turbaned women personifying Vienna and Pressburg present him with the keys to the two cities. Signed DENON D. on the left and GALLE F. on the right. Material: Bronze. Diameter: 40 mm.
