FRANCE — 1928 Dieppe Automobile Concours d’Elegance, by Claude Mascaux (1882–1965). Front: A draped female allegory emerging from the clouds (“The Woman with the Torch” or “Civilization”), bust facing forward and head turned to the right, hair flowing in the wind, holding a burning torch in her left hand and her right hand raised, against a background of radiant sunbeams. Signed: C. MASCAUX. Reverse: “CONCOURS D’ÉLÉGANCE AUTOMOBILE / DIEPPE / 1928.” A wide wreath of roses surrounds a central beaded circle, within which is inscribed a circular legend encircling the name of the city and the year in the center, above a small flower. Material: Bronze. Diameter: 50 mm.
