Obverse: Helmeted Britannia, seated facing left on a platform, holding a branch, leaning on her shield bearing the Union Jack, with a recumbent lion at her feet in the foreground; she is surrounded by allegorical female figures representing Industry, Agriculture, the Arts, and Commerce, presenting their products to her. Signed: D. MACLISE R.A. DES. LEONARD C. WYON FEC. Reverse: “1862 / LONDINI / HONORIS / CAUSA.” Inscription in four lines separated by a line, centered within an imposing wreath of oak leaves tied with a ribbon at its base; at the bottom, beneath the knot, the signature LEONARD C.
