UNESCO — Pope John Paul II’s visit to UNESCO in 1980. Obverse: Coat of arms of Pope John Paul II: a shield bearing an off-center cross, flanked in the fourth quarter by the letter M, surmounted by the papal tiara with its plumes spread, above the two keys of St. Peter crossed in a saltire and bound by a cord with tassels. Reverse: “VISIT OF HIS HOLINESS POPE JOHN PAUL II,” with the exergue: “PARIS • JUNE 2, 1980.” UNESCO emblem depicting an ancient temple with a pediment and stepped base, whose columns form the inscription “UNESCO.” Material: Bronze.
