Obverse: “INSTITUT FRANÇAIS D'ARCHÉOLOGIE ORIENTALE DU CAIRE / 1880 / 1980 .” Depiction of the Egyptian god Heh, shown from the waist up and kneeling, wearing a solar disk on his head, holding in each hand a palm of eternity resting on a shen ring; in the exergue, the centennial dates 1880 / 1980. Reverse: “The French Scientific Institute of Oriental Archaeology * 1,880 * Cairo * 1,980.” Islamic art motif consisting of two peacocks facing each other on either side of a cup against a background of geometric interlacing and vegetal arabesques enclosed within a poly-lobed arch.
