LOUIS XVI STYLE WINE BOTTLE HOLDER. FRANCE, FIRST HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY. A refined French wine bottle holder in gilt metal, executed in the Louis XVI style, conceived as an elegant accessory for formal table service. The cylindrical body is enriched with finely chased vertical fluting, a defining ornamental feature of French Neoclassicism. The upper rim is adorned with delicately modelled laurel garlands suspended from ribbon-tied rosettes, one of the most recognisable decorative motifs associated with the Louis XVI style. Designed to cradle and present a wine bottle during service, the piece combines practical function with refined decorative appeal, enhancing the elegance of the dining table. The quality of the chasing, harmonious proportions and restrained classical ornamentation distinguish this object as a representative example of French decorative arts from the first half of the nineteenth century.
