Morocco, French Post Offices from 1891 to the 1930s. An exceptional collection consisting mostly of mint*/** items (with a few used items and letters), in two Yvert volumes and described in minute detail in pen beneath each specimen. Numerous copies of each issue showcasing the various print runs, shades, varieties, and years of issue (…), appearing as singles, pairs, or in blocks and sheets. A very thorough and remarkable study of information, including a catalog appendix with postal rates and taxes. Here are a few examples: - No. 2Aa**, (Types I and II joined), a block of 8 with 4 vertical joined pairs with a gap plus 1 single pair (a total of 5 copies of No. 2Aa); - No. 3Aa**, (Types I and II joined), in a vertical joined pair with a space between them; - No. 6A, mint and OB, various blocks of 4 including the year “O”; - No. 9* and 10* and OB sets on an envelope; - No. 56 OB variety C, used on a fragment and in a mint block of 4 (with foxing); - No. 58**/*, in a block of 25 with year 4 and spaced digits; - No. 62, unreported variety with spaced digits; - Tax No. 42a**/*, double printing of the overprint in a panel of 25 copies… Far from being exhaustive, this overview reveals only a few items without mentioning the numerous varieties, some of which are unreported or uncataloged. This collection was built with patience and expertise over a period of about fifty years beginning in 1930, with a second generation briefly continuing the initial work. Originally mounted entirely on hinges, some stamps were later presented in Hawid sleeves; the removal of the hinges may have caused slight thinning on certain stamps in some cases, though this does not affect the superb overall quality of the entire collection or its meticulous presentation. A set rarely offered, especially as a collection—a must-see.
