Swolfs YVES SWOLFS THE PRINCE OF THE NIGHT The Hunter (Vol. 1), Glénat 1994 Original cover. Small spots of metal oxidation on the front and back of the cover. Signed. Acrylic on paper 39.5 × 44.2 cm (15.55 × 17.4 in.) This cover by Yves Swolfs is firmly rooted in the tradition of the romantic vampire inherited from Bram Stoker, as well as from Hammer Films. Far from the grotesque monster of folklore, Vladimir Kergan appears as an aristocratic predator, both seductive and terrifying. His pale face, magnetic gaze, and exposed fangs combine eroticism and menace. The languid young woman, for her part, evokes the classic theme of the victim fascinated by her tormentor. Swolfs thus draws on one of the great archetypes of the modern vampire, where desire, death, and the power of seduction intertwine. His pictorial realism further reinforces this sensual and tragic vision of the myth.
